One Wild Night With Children of Bodom

Yes! The title pretty much describes it all!
17 November 2011 at 8pm was the date. Got off work few hours earlier and headed down towards Fort Canning Park.

The concert started a bit later after 8pm, and it was hell as rocking for the next one and a half hours!

I brought my ZOOM Q3HD video and audio recorder to the concert to test a live setting’s recording… And it turned out good! Shot with 60fps!

All in all, an awesome night to remember.
Concerts like these are required to make me play my guitar more! Haha!

John Paul’s Birthday

The owners and staff of Ukulele Movement stayed back after work to celebrate a fellow colleague’s birthday. Coincidentally we had a board games night as well!

We often hire people who show different talents in various aspects, and for Birthday boy John Paul, his talent lies in music and audio engineering. He’s also a multi-instrumentalist, being able to play the guitar and bass very well. Jammed with him a couple of time during free hours, and it was great fun!

I’ve seen a lot of 4 string and 5 string basses, but John Paul’s custom 6 string bass was da bomb! “Looks damn fierce”, as how one of our colleagues described it. And I had to agree! It was amazing to see John play his 6 string bass. He could get sounds out of that instrument that non of us could!

This is Don. Also another talented musician. Plays the guitar, ukulele, drums, bass.. the lot!

And when you put several musicians together, you get a nice jam session to listen to!

We ended the night by playing 2 rounds of CRANIUM. It’s this American based board game, which is a combination of several games like charades, clay moulding, singing etc etc. Basically you roll a colored dice during your team’s turn, then pick a card from the respective color, and perform the required action! Once the action is performed/answered correctly, you get to move along the board. First team to reach the CRANIUM goal wins! Check out http://www.hasbro.com/games/en_US/cranium/

Time sure passed really quick while we played. Ended up playing till 1+am in the morning. And we had to work the next day!

KL Revisted

It has been quite a while since I went back KL. This time round, the main event was to attend an ex colleague’s wedding dinner near KLCC. Hope to get some photos of that soon.

Took the opportunity to visit some old friends too! Met up with Gigi and Mandy at KLCC’s Chilis for lunch, and dinner with James and Hafiz at Sunway Pyramid. Very glad that everyone’s doing well!

Life with the Ukulele

Wow it has been almost 2 years since a blog post.
Was talking to a friend and she asked why I stopped blogging. I guess I’ve been lazy! Haha

 

Found some pictures lying around and decided to do a short post about what I’ve been doing for the past year +…

Been playing a lot of music, and making a career out of it. It’s been very good so far. Getting to play at gigs, teaching students, conducting workshops and meeting many great people along the way. So far Ukulele Movement (the name of the company I’m working for) has hired amazing people, and its great to see that the UM family has been growing!

A Cat named Lucky

 

There’s a stray orange female cat who’s always around outside my KL apartment…

She never seems to leave the area, and she’s ALWAYS getting pregnant…

 

And when she’s pregnant, she’s always hungry, and looking for food.

My housemate and I would sometimes buy some cat food for her….

As a result, I conveniently named her Lucky, since she’s one lucky cat around….

Mr BIG Concert in Singapore

 

Mr BIG, LIVE, Fort Canning, Singapore, 18th October 2009

 

An event which I just couldn’t miss…

Purposely took leave the next day, so that I could really go all out on the night of the concert.

 

The only sad thing was I didn’t bring my camera.

Don’t ask why.

It was a silly reason..

 

I couldn’t remember the exact song list, but the first song was the ‘Electric Drill’ song – Daddy Brother Lover Little Boy.

Man, was I glad to see that one LIVE!

Before the concert, I told my other friends that if I don’t see ‘THE DRILL’, I’m going to SISTIC to get my money back.

Well~ Money well spent!

 

Other songs included Take Cover, Colorado Bulldog, Addicted to that Rush, This Time Around, Wild World and To Be With You.

 

 

Anyway, I figured those people who were at the concert and busy snapping pictures, would surely blog / publish the photos.
